London, England – Clint Dempsey stuffed home a late rebound man Liverpool at Craven Cottage.
After 84 scoreless minutes, a shot lashed at goal was coughed up by Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina and the American international was on the spot to convert the rebound and give Fulham the win.
The Cottagers took control of the affair after the dubious sending off of Jay Spearing in the 72nd minute. The Liverpool midfielder earned a questionable red card for a physical challenge on Moussa Dembele, drawing a sizeable protest from Kenny Dalglish's men.
Liverpool was not without a fair chance of scoring opportunities, as the visitors hit the woodwork twice over the course of the match.
Jordan Henderson struck the frame of the goal in the first half with a curling shot and Stewart Downing nearly rocketed a shot into the upper corner late in the game but Fulham stopper Mark Schwarzer made a brilliant fingertip save to push the ball onto the post.
Dempsey had nearly put Fulham in front in the 80th minute, but his shot from distance rattled the crossbar and was promptly cleared by the Liverpool defense.
Fulham is now unbeaten in its last three Premier League fixtures, jumping ahead of Wolverhampton, Swansea City, and West Bromwich with 15 points.
Liverpool, meanwhile, misses an opportunity to go level with Newcastle United and Arsenal in the Premiership table. Instead, it sits seventh with 23 points.
