Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Blake will miss a minimum of six weeks after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, the team announced.
Blake suffered the injury in the second half of the Lakers' 100-86 win over Sacramento on Nov. 24 and has been playing through the injury ever since.
"I'm still a little shocked right now," said Blake.
The injury comes at a difficult time for the Lakers, who are already without point guards Steve Nash and Jordan Farmar. Nash is out indefinitely with a chronic nerve issue in his back, while Farmar has a torn hamstring and won't return to the court until sometime in January.
Blake's absence leaves the Lakers without a true point guard on the active roster, with Kobe Bryant expected to handle those duties with the starting unit in the meantime.
Blake has started all 21 games this season for Los Angeles, averaging 9.8 points with 7.7 assists.
