New York, NY – Baylor again remained a unanimous choice as the No. 1 team in the Associated Press women's college basketball poll.
The Lady Bears received all 39 first-place votes for a total of 975 points from a nationwide media panel after a 93-55 rout of Mississippi Valley State in their only game last week. Big 12 play kicks into gear this week, as Baylor hosts Missouri on Wednesday and visits Iowa State on Saturday.
Connecticut, Notre Dame, Stanford and Maryland held their positions in the top five, while the remainder of the top 10 includes Tennessee, Duke, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Rutgers.
Kentucky fell from sixth to 11th after a loss to Middle Tennessee last week and starts the second 10 that is also comprised of Miami-Florida, Texas Tech, Louisville, Georgetown, Georgia, Green Bay, Purdue, Nebraska and DePaul.
The last five teams ranked this week are Delaware, Penn State, Texas, Vanderbilt and North Carolina. Penn State tumbled six places from 16th after losing to Nebraska.
