Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko issued an update on his recovery from a fractured hand.
Five days ago, Konerko revealed he sustained a sesamoid fracture in his left hand and was originally expected to miss up to one week.
"I haven't done anything aggressive yet. I'll pick up a bat in two days and take some swings. If that feels good, we will move on from there," Konerko stated on Wednesday. "I'd like to get out there this weekend but if that doesn't work, I plan to get out there for the road trip."
The White Sox -- who are trying to fend off the Twins and avoid residence in the AL Central basement -- welcome Oakland for two more games and then host Minnesota for three before departing on a nine-game trip from Sept. 15-24 to Kansas City, Tampa Bay and Detroit.
In what was expected to be his final major-league season, Konerko has hit just .220 with five home runs, eight doubles and 22 RBI in a reduced role.
