Manchester City has succeeded in its appeal against Vincent Kompany's sending off in the club's defeat of Arsenal on Sunday.

Kompany was issued a straight red card 14 minutes from time following a rash, two-footed challenge on Arsenal's Jack Wilshere. City was quick to announce that it would appeal the decision, and the Football Association has confirmed that the subsequent ban has been rescinded.

"An independent regulatory commission has today upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal regarding Manchester City's Vincent Kompany," the FA said in a statement. "The defender was dismissed for serious foul play during his side's match against Arsenal on Sunday, January 13, 2013. As a result, Kompany's three-match suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect."
