Vienna, Austria (SportsNetwork.com) - Fourth-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber and towering Croat Ivo Karlovic notched second-round victories Wednesday at the Erste Bank Open tennis event.

Kohlschreiber had to come from behind to beat Argentine Carlos Berlocq 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, while the 6-foot-10 sixth-seeded Karlovic smacked 21 aces in taking care of two-time Vienna champion and heavy Austrian crowd favorite Jurgen Melzer 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) to reach the quarterfinals on the hardcourts at Wiener Stadthalle.

In first-round action on Day 3, fifth-seeded Czech Lukas Rosol handled Slovak Lukas Lacko 6-2, 6-4, Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky edged out Slovakian qualifier Miloslav Mecir Jr. 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, and German Tobias Kamke overcame Italian Simone Bolelli 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Mecir is the son of one-time world No. 4 star Miloslav Mecir.

In some second-round action on Thursday, top-seeded David Ferrer will face Kamke and second-seeded Andy Murray will take on Canadian Vasek Pospisil.

The winner of this European indoor swing tournament will collect $120,000.
