Dusseldorf, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Top-seeded German favorite Philipp Kohlschreiber and 6-foot-10 Croat Ivo Karlovic will clash in Saturday's title match at the Dusseldorf Open.
Kohlschreiber, who saw double duty on Friday, held off Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in 1 hour, 54 minutes in the second semifinal after the seventh-seeded Karlovic bested Czech Jiri Vesely 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (9-7) at Rochusclub. Karlovic swatted 16 aces in his 1-hour, 55-minute victory.
The 30-year-old Kohlschreiber opened his day by completing a suspended quarterfinal match from Thursday and getting past Croatian qualifier Mate Delic, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
Kohlschreiber is 4-6 in his career ATP finals, with his last title coming in Munich in 2012.
The 35-year-old Karlovic is 5-4 in his career finals, with his last title coming in Bogota last year. He was a runner-up in Memphis in February.
Karlovic is 2-1 lifetime against Kohlschreiber, with their last meeting coming in Doha three years ago and the Croat prevailing.
