Clemson, SC – The Clemson Tigers announced Thursday that Kevin Steele will not return as the team's defensive coordinator, a position he had held since 2009.
The news comes on the heels of Clemson's 70-33 loss to West Virginia in last week's Orange Bowl. The 70 points were the most scored by a team in any bowl game.
The Tigers finished this season No. 71 in the country in total defense, a marked decline after ranking 19th in 2010.
"I want to thank Kevin Steele for his significant contributions to our program over the last three years," said Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney. "He has had a huge impact on Clemson football. Our players have learned countless lessons from him on and off the field."
