Tokyo, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seeds Angelique Kerber, Caroline Wozniacki and Ana Ivanovic led the charge into the semifinals at the $1 million Pan Pacific Open tennis event.
The top-seeded Kerber whipped sixth-seeded Australian Open runner-up Dominika Cibulkova 6-3, 6-0, while the second-seeded former world No. 1 Wozniacki waltzed past eighth-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-3, 6-3 and the third-seeded former top-ranked Ivanovic cruised past seventh-seeded Czech Lucie Safarova 6-3, 6-2 on the hardcourts at Ariake Coliseum.
The German Kerber was last year's Tokyo runner-up to fellow left-hander Petra Kvitova, while this month's U.S. Open runner-up Wozniacki was the Pan Pacific champ in 2010 and Ivanovic was the runner-up in Tokyo in 2007.
Another quarterfinal result saw rising Spaniard Garbine Muguruza overcome Aussie Casey Dellacqua 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
Saturday's semis will pit Kerber against Ivanovic and Wozniacki versus Muguruza.
The resurgent Wozniacki has won 21 of her last 25 matches, including a title in Istanbul.
This week's champion will collect $196,670.
