Chivas USA signed goalkeeper Dan Kennedy to a year contract Tuesday.

Kennedy, 29, appeared in 32 matches last season, all as a starter, and posted nine shutouts in Major League Soccer.

"Dan was our MVP this year, there was never a doubt that we wanted him back," said Jose Domene, Chivas USA general manager.

"His consistency and leadership both on and off the field were exemplary last season."

Kennedy was selected by Chivas USA in the fourth round of the MLS Supplemental Draft in 2005 but played in Puerto Rico and Chile before returning to the club in 2008.

Per league and club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
