Augsburg, Germany – There may be 15 points and 10 places separating Augsburg from Eintracht, but you would have never known it on Sunday as Augsburg claimed a 2-0 home victory over Eintracht behind two goals from Dong-Won Ji to improve its survival hopes.
The win lifts Augsburg to within three points of safety with five games to play, while Eintracht's poor run continues with just one win in its last nine games to fall four points back in the race for a Champions League place.
Ji tallied his first goal after 27 minutes following a pass from Jan Moravek, while Augsburg could have extended its lead from the penalty spot after Paul Verhaegh was fouled inside the area by Takashi Inui.
Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker stepped forward to take the kick, but he fired it over the net.
The home side was not punished for its wastefulness, however, as Eintracht struggled in the offensive third and yielded another goal to Ji in the 55th with Jan Moravek once again playing provider.

Stuttgart, Germany - Monchengladbach failed to improve its European hopes on Sunday as the club suffered a 2-0 defeat at Stuttgart to remain in seventh place.
The two goals were scored five minutes apart in the first half by the home side, which won for just the second time in its last seven matches to climb 12 points clear of the bottom three.
With a Pokal Cup semifinal looming on Wednesday, Stuttgart built a bit of momentum with three points on Sunday and opened the scoring 28 minutes into the game when Alexandru Maxim's free kick was diverted into his own net by Alvaro Dominguez.
Christian Gentner then took advantage of some confusion in the Monchengladbach defense five minutes later between Tony Jantschke and goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen to lob the ball into the net from a tight angle.
There was no way back for the visitors after that, and they struggled to seriously test Stuttgart goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
