Jays place Escobar on paternity list

Detroit, MI – The Toronto Blue Jays placed shortstop Yunel Escobar on the paternity list and recalled pitcher Chad Beck from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Escobar is batting .246 with seven homers and 39 RBI in 115 games for Toronto this season.

Beck appeared in seven games for the Blue Jays earlier this season and posted a 5.87 earned run average without factoring in a decision. Over 39 relief appearances for Las Vegas, Beck is 2-0 with 15 saves and a 1.49 ERA.
