Now that Jason Collins has made history as the first active player in any of the four major U.S. professional sports leagues to come out as gay, the 7-foot center is facing another big step.

His Washington Wizards did not make the NBA playoffs, so Collins will have to wait until next season to walk into a locker room and hit the court as an openly gay player. Collins says he's ready. Now it's time to find out if the locker room is ready for him.

Collins will be a free agent this summer and wants to keep playing.

Collins has received overwhelming support since coming out on Monday. Fellow NBA player Jerry Stackhouse says "the real response will be once he gets a job."
