Bogota, Colombia (SportsNetwork.com) - Top-seeded Serbian star Jelena Jankovic wrapped up the first round with a victory, while American Vania King secured a berth in the quarterfinals at the Claro Open Colsanitas tennis event.

The former world No. 1 and reigning Bogota champion Jankovic handled France's Mathilde Johansson 7-5, 7-5 to advance.

Jankovic beat Argentine Paula Ormaechea in last year's finale here.

Her second-round opponent on Thursday will be Georgian qualifier Sofia Shapatava.

Meanwhile, the sixth-seeded King got past Argentine wild card Maria Irigoyen 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 in second-round action on the red clay at Centro de Alto Rendimiento.

Also in the second round, eighth-seeded Spaniard and two-time Bogota champion Lourdes Dominguez Lino leveled Colombian wild card Yuliana Lizarazo 6-2, 6-3, and South African Chanelle Scheepers drubbed 2012 runner-up Alexandra Panova of Russia 6-3, 6-2. Dominguez Lino titled here in 2006 and 2011 and was the runner-up in 2005.

Mariana Duque-Marino also advanced to the quarters by virtue of a 6-2, 6-4 verdict over Russian lucky-loser Irina Khromacheva. The Bogota native captured her hometown tournament back in 2010.
