(STATS) - James Madison coach Mike Houston announced the addition of former South Carolina quarterback Connor Mitch and Duke wide receiver Terrence Alls to the program Monday.
By dropping to the FCS level, both players are eligible immediately and will have two years to play for James Madison.
Mitch, from Raleigh, N.C., opened last season as South Carolina's starting quarterback, but he suffered a shoulder injury in the second game. The four-star recruit also appeared in two games as a redshirt freshman in 2014.
"The thing that attracted him to us was his age, his experience and his ability to play at a high level," Houston said. "We identified a need at that position, and we now have a good combination of experience, youth and depth at the quarterback position behind Bryan Schor. He will have an opportunity to compete for a spot in the rotation and should be good competition in camp."
Alls, from Miami Gardens, Fla., played in 17 career games at Duke, making eight receptions for 70 yards. Included was a five-catch game against Miami on Oct. 31.
"Terrence is a very talented wide receiver who can flat run," Houston said. "He will be a quality addition to a position group we feel we're very good at already. He, too, will have an opportunity to earn his spot on the field this fall."
James Madison, which earned a share of the CAA Football title last season, will open Houston's first season on Sept. 3 against Morehead State.
