The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran defensive end Jeremy Mincey, who was inactive for two games last month after showing up late to a team meeting.

Coach Gus Bradley said Mincey needed to get his priorities straight and gave him another chance. Mincey returned to the rotation last week against Houston and played 36 snaps. It's unclear what happened to prompt his release Friday.

Mincey signed a four-year, $20 million contract in 2012, with $9 million guaranteed. He earned nearly $11 million in the first two years of the deal. His base salary would have doubled to $4 million in 2014, so it was unlikely Mincey would have stuck around anyway.

He joined the Jaguars in 2006, playing in 64 games with 41 starts.
