Winston – Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Local favorite John Isner was a hard- Salem Open, a final hardcourt tuneup for the U.S. Open.
The 6-foot-9 fourth-seeded Isner came from behind to beat eighth-seeded Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 at Wake Forest University. The massive- serving Isner swatted 12 aces en route to victory against the former Australian Open runner-up Baghdatis.
The 26-year-old Isner hails from nearby Greensboro.
The Winston-Salem champ will collect $74,630.
