Cleveland, OH – The Cleveland Indians placed outfielder day disabled list Friday among several roster moves.
Brantley, who was sidelined by right wrist inflammation, hit .266 with seven home runs and 46 RBI in 114 games this season.
Tomlin has been struck by right elbow soreness. The right-hander is 12-7 with a 4.25 earned run average in 26 games this year.
The Tribe also recalled pitcher Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus and announced that designated hitter Jim Thome, acquired late Thursday from Minnesota, will take Brantley's roster spot.
Hagadone, 25, has gone 6-4 with a 2.65 ERA in 44 games split between Double-A Akron and Columbus.
Thome is poised to see his first action with Cleveland since the end of the 2002 season.
