Coach Rex Ryan says that the New York Jets are considering having rookie quarterback Geno Smith wear a color-coded wristband to help cut down on turnovers in games.

The Jets used the same method during Mark Sanchez's rookie season in 2009 to help him determine how aggressive he can be on a given play.

Ryan said Wednesday the team hadn't planned anything specific to aid Smith just yet. But he adds, "Hey, whatever it takes."

With 11 turnovers — eight interceptions and three fumbles lost — Smith is tied with the Giants' Eli Manning for the league lead in that dubious category.

Designated red plays indicate a need to be conservative, yellow means he must be cautious and green indicates the quarterback can be aggressive.
