New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Houston Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel was named the American League Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Keuchel claimed his first career weekly honor after posting a 2-0 record with a 1.02 ERA last week in road starts against the Angels and Mariners. Keuchel had 14 strikeouts to just one walk in 17 2/3 innings and tossed a complete game against Seattle.
Among the other players the league cited for standout performances last week were Keuchel's teammate George Springer, Texas' Adrian Beltre, Baltimore's Nelson Cruz and Chris Davis, Toronto's Edwin Encarnacion and Los Angeles' Jered Weaver.
