Tom Meadows, who has trained two-time Beijing medalist Jonathan Horton for most of his career, has been named assistant coach for the U.S. men's gymnastics team at the London Olympics.

Meadows will be on the floor with head coach and national team coordinator Kevin Mazeika for the July 28 preliminaries and the team final two days later. Any Americans who make the all-around or event finals will have their personal coaches on the floor with them during those competitions.

Meadows, an NCAA All-American at Oklahoma, has been coaching elite gymnasts since 1995. Horton trained with Meadows until he, too, went to Oklahoma, then returned to Houston to work with Meadows again after the Beijing Olympics.

Meadows is also the personal coach of U.S. alternate Chris Brooks.
