Richaun Holmes scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds and had five blocked shots as Bowling Green beat Drake 77-58 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Jehvon Clarke added 16 points from the bench for the Falcons. Spencer Parker and Jovan Austin chipped in 10 apiece. The team went 8 of 8 from the free throw line, hit 52 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range.

The Falcons took a 17-8 lead early in the first period with the help of 3-pointers from Clarke, Chauncey Orr and Garrett Mayleben. They led 47-31 at halftime and never had to look back as they led Drake by double digits throughout the second half.

Reed Timmer led Drake with 16 points and six assists. Jacob Enevold Jensen added 10 points and five rebounds. The Bulldogs hit just 37 percent from the field overall.
