Columbus Crew forward Federico Higuain was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week for Week 25 of the 2012 MLS season on Monday.

Higuain scored three goals while setting up another last week as he led the Crew to a 2-1 win over Toronto FC on Wednesday and a 4-3 victory against the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Signed as a Designated Player from Colon last month, Higuain has had a positive impact on his new club as he had a hand in both goals against Toronto on Wednesday by setting up the opener for Eddie Gaven and scoring the second goal himself.

Against New England, Higuain tallied two more goals in the 4-3 win to give him three goals and two assists in his first three games as a member of the Crew.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, radio media.
