Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - FC Dallas announced on Wednesday that the club has signed defender Matt Hedges to a multi-year contract extension. Per league and team policy, the terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.

Hedges was selected by Dallas in the first round (11th overall) of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft and he made a team-high 33 appearances for the Hoops last season, scoring three goals.

"There has been an ongoing negotiation to extend our agreement with Matt Hedges since the end of the 2013 season," FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo said. "Matt has been better than anyone could have expected when we drafted him and his quality has really shown. We felt it was in the best interest of the club to extend his contract, and we were able to come to an agreement last week."

Hedges appeared in 54 straight games for Dallas from May 9, 2012 to Oct. 5, 2013, the second-longest streak in franchise history.
