(SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks continue their western road trip Monday when they visit Sleep Train Arena to take on the Sacramento Kings, who return home from a long road odyssey.

The Hawks won two straight after opening this six-game sojourn with a shocking loss to the Denver Nuggets. Atlanta bested the Phoenix Suns on Friday, then knocked off the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Dennis Schroder had 24 points and 10 assists as the shorthanded Hawks held off the Lakers, 91-86, on Sunday night.

Atlanta held out starters Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll for rest, and Kyle Korver exited the game after breaking his nose. Korver didn't travel to Sacramento and will be out Monday.

Al Horford posted 21 points and five steals and Shelvin Mack poured in 18 points off the bench for the Hawks, who have won three of their last four games. Horford is expected to sit on Monday for rest.

"A good win on the road. Our defense in the third quarter gave us separation. Our pick and roll was good all night," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said.

The Hawks began to pull away with a 9-0 run that stretched into the fourth quarter. The Lakers went on a 16-2 surge and got within two with 30 seconds on the clock.

Schroder had the answer at the other end, driving in from the left wing and getting his layup to fall for a four-point cushion with 13.9 ticks on the clock. Wesley Johnson was unable to hit on another trey and Kent Bazemore sealed the outcome with two free throws.

The Hawks have one of the biggest games of their season on the horizon Wednesday. They'll visit the Golden State Warriors, then close the trip on Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Kings completed a 2-6 road trip east and will play their next five at home against Atlanta, the LA Clippers, Charlotte, Washington and Philadelphia.

On Saturday, Sacramento was game, but fell to the Wizards, 113-97.

DeMarcus Cousins had 30 points for the Kings despite battling foul trouble most of the night. The Kings, who coughed up a double-digit lead for the second straight game, were without second leading scorer Rudy Gay (knee). He is questionable on Monday.

Washington was sluggish out of the gate and trailed by as many as 21 points early in the second half before mounting a comeback.

"Maybe we got a little tired," Kings coach George Karl said. "Our defense was a step slow, a second behind, whatever you want to say, but we were very ordinary at both ends of the court probably."

The Hawks have won 13 straight over the Kings, including six in a row in Sacramento.
