DETROIT -- While the Blackhawks were preparing for what became a 4-2 victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena, they were getting some promising reports from back home regarding the progress of injured center Dave Bolland.
Bolland, who has missed 13 games with a reported concussion, skated on Friday for the first time since he was injured March 9 at Tampa Bay. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville seemed a bit surprised that Bolland was skating based on the recent reports he was getting on the injured center.
"He's really progressing and the fact that he is on the ice, he's turned the corner," Quenneville said after Friday's game. "We'll get a better assessment when we get to see how he's doing, but we like the progress."
Quenneville wouldn't rule out having Bolland for Game 1 of the playoffs next week should the Blackhawks make it.
"Certainly the fact that he's on the ice gives you signs that it can happen," he said. "There wasn't a lot of hope a little while ago. Anything can happen, but we like the fact that he's progressing daily and things are improving."
Bolland has 15 goals and 37 points in 61 games this season.
