Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane found the perfect way to pay homage to the genius behind "Total Football," scoring a wonderful goal moments after perfoming the Dutch legend's signature move: the Cruyff Turn.
With England down 2-0 to Germany in a friendly in Berlin, the Spurs star shook off Mesut Ozil with the slick move, and finished with a low drive that clanked off the inside of Manuel Neuer's post and in. See the goal at the 1:05 minute mark:
Kane didn't intend to honor Cruyff, who passed away at 68 after a battle with lung cancer. That makes the goal all the more special. A beautiful, organic reminder that Cruyff's influence on the game will live on forever.
Even better for England, Kane's goal propelled the Three Lions to an unlikely comeback victory over the World Cup champions. An even prettier equalizer from Jamie Vardy and a late stoppage-time winner from Kane's Tottenham teammate Erik Dier sealed a memorable night in Berlin.
