Harmon wins by 3 in Saskatchewan

Saskatoon, SK (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Harmon closed with a 6-under 66 on Sunday and cruised to a 3-stroke win at the Dakota Dunes Open.

Harmon finished his first PGA Tour Canada win at 24-under-par 264. He missed the tournament's scoring record by one stroke.

"I knew I was playing well and that good results were coming. You never know when you're going to win, so this feels incredible," said Harmon. "Fortunately I've gotten off to a nice start. I'm looking forward hopefully to that RBC Canadian Open exemption if you're in the top three through Thunder Bay, so the next two weeks I've got my eyes set on that."

William Kropp fired a 10-under 62 in the final round. He rallied for a second- place finish at minus-21. Robert Karlsson carded a 65 in the final round and ended in third at 20-under 268 at Dakota Dunes Golf Links.

Erik Barnes posted his second 63 of the week and he ended in fourth at minus-19. Matt Marshall and Brady Schnell both closed 8-under 64s. Marshall finished alone in sixth at 18-under 270, while Schnell was one stroke back at minus-17.

Harmon started his round with birdies on the second and fourth. He tripped to a bogey on the par-4 fifth to end a run of 25 straight bogey-free holes.

The 29-year-old quickly erased that mistake with a birdie on No. 6. He also birdied the eighth and parred the ninth to make the turn at 21-under par.

Harmon ran off three birdies in a 4-hole span from the 13th to jump to minus-24. He parred the last two to win by three.

Kropp birdied seven of the nine holes on the front nine, including six in a row from the fourth, to post 7-under 29 on the front side. He was putting pressure on Harmon, but could only notch three more birdies on the inward nine to grab second place.

NOTES: Harmon won $27,000 for the victory and moved to second on the Order of Merit ... Harmon was the third straight player to convert the 54-hole lead into victory ... The PGA Tour Canada heads to Winnipeg next week for The Players Cup, where Carlos Sainz Jr. won last year.
