Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Canadiens added depth to their bottom six forwards by agreeing to terms with Manny Malhotra on a one- year deal at the outset of free agency on Tuesday.

No financial terms were disclosed, but multiple reports state the 34-year-old native of the Toronto suburbs will make $850,000.

Malhotra recorded seven goals and 13 points over 69 games for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2013-14, having fully recovered from the after-effects of being hit in the eye late in the 2010-11 season. Lingering issues with his vision cost him 39 games during the lockout-shortened 2013 campaign.

Since breaking into the NHL with the Rangers in 1998, Malhotra has compiled 115 goals and 176 assists over 933 regular-season appearances with six clubs.
