Grambling players snub team bus

After Grambling State football players walked out of an administrative meeting and opted not to practice earlier in the week, the chaotic state of the school's football program appeared to worsen Friday when the players apparently decided not to travel to Jackson, Mississippi, according to a Twitter post by The Gramblinite.

Isabella posted photos on his Twitter feed displaying a quiet scene in front of the team buses, one of which exhibited empty cargo compartments

Winless Grambling State changed football coaches for the second time this season on Thursday.

Defensive assistant Dennis ''Dirt'' Winston, a former NFL linebacker with Pittsburgh and New Orleans, was named the new interim coach for the Tigers (0-7). Winston replaced George Ragsdale, who was promoted from running backs coach in September when Doug Williams was fired. Ragsdale has been reassigned in the athletic department.

The move was aimed at reuniting players, who were angered by a meeting with administrators on Tuesday and boycotted Wednesday's practice .

During the 1990s, Winston served two stints at Grambling as an assistant to college Hall of Fame coach Eddie Robinson.

Athletic director Aaron James says Winston has the ability to ''tone things down and get the program up and running smoothly.''
