Gignac's penalty powers Marseille past Evian

Marseille, France ( - Marseille received a second-half penalty from Andre-Pierre Gignac at the Stade Velodrome on Saturday to claim a 1-0 victory over Evian.

After a scoreless opening period, Gignac converted from the spot in the 49th minute to put the hosts in front.

Marseille cruised the rest of the way, closing out the match with the lead in tact to move to 47 points and back into a tie with PSG for second place in the Ligue 1 table.

Lille squandered a late lead to throw away two points in a 1-1 draw at Nantes on Saturday.

Jonathan Delaplace had given the visitors the lead in the 14th minute, but Oswaldo Vizcarrondo struck 10 minutes from time to see Nantes come away with a share of the spoils.
