LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tia Gibbs had 19 points, hitting five 3-pointers, to help No. 5 Louisville win its 15th straight game with a 79-59 victory over South Florida on Sunday.
Shoni Schimmel added 14 points for the Cardinals (22-1, 10-0 American Athletic Conference), who matched longest winning streak in school history set in 2006-07.
Courtney Williams led USF (11-10, 6-4) with 17 points. Akila McDonald had 11 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
After missing her first six shot attempts, Schimmel made a short jumper to put Louisville 22-16 with 7:53 left in the first half.
USF fell behind by 10 but rallied as Inga Orekhova sank a three-pointer to make it to 32-28 with 4:28 left.
Schimmel and Antonita Slaughter responded with back-to-back three-pointers, and Louisville closed out the first half on a 13-0 run to lead 45-28 at halftime.
USF got no closer than 13 the rest of the way.
