The San Francisco Giants signed catcher year contracts on Monday.

Whiteside played in a career-high 82 games a year ago, thanks to the season- ending leg injury suffered by starter Buster Posey. He managed to hit just .197 with four homers and 17 RBI.

Burriss split 2011 between the Giants and their Triple-A club. He batted .204 with four RBI and 11 stolen bases in 59 games for San Francisco and .297 with two home runs, eight doubles, 10 RBI and swiped 24 bases at Fresno.
