East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Giants cornerback Walter Thurmond will miss the remainder of the 2014 season after tearing his pectoral muscle during Sunday's 25-14 home loss to Arizona.

Thurmond, the Giants' primary slot corner, is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday.

The fifth-year pro signed with New York as a free agent in March after spending four seasons with Seattle. Thurmond appeared in 12 games with three starts for the Super Bowl champion Seahawks in 2013, recording 33 tackles, six passes defensed and an interception he returned for a touchdown.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin did not provide an update on the status of starting middle linebacker Jon Beason during Monday's press conference. The oft-injured veteran exited Sunday's game after aggravating a previous injury to his right foot.

Beason missed the entire preseason recovering from surgery to repair a sesamoid fracture and ligament tear in the same foot.
