Georgetown coach John Thompson III says he has "no idea" when the NCAA will rule on the eligibility of center Josh Smith, who transferred from UCLA during last season.

Thompson says Tuesday he's "approaching it as if (Smith) may or may not be with us" when Georgetown begins play Nov. 8 against Oregon in Seoul, South Korea.

Smith, listed at 6-foot-10 and 350 pounds in the Hoyas' media guide, played two full seasons at UCLA, and then left after six games as a junior. It's not known whether he will be allowed to play at the start of this season or need to wait until the second semester.

Thompson also says there is no timetable for the return of injured forward Greg Whittington.
