Guadalajara has confirmed that manager Benjamin Galindo has been relieved of his duties following a 4-2 defeat against Puebla.

Team sporting director Dennis Te Kloese made the announcement following the loss on Sunday, which left the club with only one win from its first five games this season.

"Today's result has been very negative for those who want to see the team do well," said Te Kloese of the team, which is 1-1-3 and sits in 15th place in the Mexican league. "This was a tough moment but in the end we opted that Benjamin Galindo should no longer be the Chivas coach for the moment."

Galindo took over in January for John Van't Schip, who was fired following a 17th-place finish the previous season.
