Fukuoka, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Hiroyuki Fujita defeated Wen-Chong Liang in a playoff on Sunday to complete a big comeback and win the RZ Everlasting KBC Augusta.
Beginning the day six shots off the lead, Fujita surged with a final-round, 7- under 65 to join Liang at 12-under-par 276 and force a playoff at Keya Golf Club.
The victory is Fujita's 17th on tour and his second this season. He also took home the Tsuruya Open back in April.
Despite the end result, Fujita did not start his final round off well, making par at the first before dropping a shot with a bogey on the second. It was the first and only mistake Fujita made all day.
Fujita got the shot right back with a birdie on the par-3 third. Fujita finished off his front nine with two more gains at six and nine, making the turn at 2-under.
The big surge from Fujita came on the back nine when he poured in three straight birdies from 11. Down the final stretch, he made two more birdies at 15 and 17, while finishing with a par at the last.
Fujita was able to best Liang on the fifth playoff hole to win the title.
Liang closed his tournament with a 3-under 69 and he also ended regulation at 12-under.
Third-round leader Hyung-Sung Kim could not go low enough on Sunday as he shot an even-par 72 to finish tied for third at 11-under 277 with Yosuke Tsukada (66), Toshinori Muto (68) and Yusaku Miyazato (69).
