Brian Burrell threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns, two in a pivotal second quarter, and Fresno State snapped a three-game losing streak by storming past San Jose State, 38-24 on Saturday night.

Trailing 14-7 in the second quarter, Fresno State (4-6, 3-3 Mountain West) scored 21 unanswered points in the final three minutes of the first half. Burrell tossed 2 yards to Chad Olson with 2:57 left to even the score at 14-14. After a San Jose State punt, he found Josh Harper from 18-yards out. T.J. Thomas returned a blocked Michael Carrizosa punt 9 yards for a score with :55 left.

Burrell completed 20 of 26 passing. Marteze Waller led the Bulldogs with 145 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Josh Quezada added 112 yards on 24 carries.

Joe Gray was 26 of 44 for 350 yards and two touchdowns for the Spartans (3-6, 2-3).
