Joe Panzeri carded a 5-under 65 on Thursday to grab a share of the lead after the opening round of the Windsor Roseland Charity Classic.

Panzeri, last year's Dakota Dunes Casino Open winner, shares first place with James Allenby, Garrett Frank and David Byrne.

Matt Grush and Patrick Scheil are tied for fifth place one stroke off the lead at Roseland Golf Club.

Panzeri got going with an eagle on No. 2. He birdied the fifth and ninth to make the turn at minus-4. He bogeyed the 11th, but came back with birdies on 15 and 16 to grab a share of the lead.

Allenby ran off three birdies in a four-hole span from the 12th to jump to 3- under. Around the turn, he eagled the par-5 second. After tripping to a bogey on No. 4, Allenby birdied the fifth and sixth. He faltered to another bogey at the eighth to end at 5-under.

Frank played the back nine first and birdied Nos. 11 and 12. He also birdied the 16th to make the turn at 3-under. Frank moved to 5-under with birdies at one and two. He parred the last seven holes to end there.

Byrne poured in four straight birdie chances from the second. He tripped to a bogey at the seventh, but came back with a birdie at nine. Byrne birdied the 12th, but gave that back with a bogey at 14. He grabbed a share of the lead with a birdie on No. 16.

Eugene Choe, Dodge Kemmer, Wilson Bateman and Steven Lecuyer are tied for seventh at 3-under 67.

NOTES: Tour money leader Matt Hill opened with an even-par 70, which left him tied for 26th ... This tournament returned to the schedule after being played from 1979-91.
