Lenny Dykstra is heading back to federal court in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday in a bid to have his $150,000 bail reduced.
Dykstra, a 48-year-old former center fielder for Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets, was indicted Friday by a federal grand jury that accused him of bankruptcy fraud for allegedly selling items from his $18 million mansion once owned by hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
Dykstra's lawyer, Mark J. Werksman, wants the ex-big leaguer's bail reduced to $105,000.
Dykstra, who already posted a $75,000 bond, "has had difficulty in obtaining" the rest of the cash, Werksman said in court papers. He has only been able to line up another $30,000, according to court filings.
After Dykstra was arrested last month, several media outlets reported Charlie Sheen stepped forward to help bail him out. Werksman has shot down those reports.
