The Miami Heat will honor 11 soldiers when they host to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.

It's part of the "Home Strong" program that Heat President Pat Riley started several years ago, where the team honors a veteran who served in Iraq or Afghanistan before tipoff of home games.

The pregame event Wednesday is part of a series of Veterans Day tributes by the team, including helping send thousands of care packages to military overseas and refurbishing of two homes owned by U.S. Army veterans.

Riley says he hopes the Heat involvement in military tributes "goes on forever and maybe is one day even more meaningful to the veterans who come back."

NBA teams have been honoring troops for several days with Veterans Day celebrations.
