(SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Flyers will try to shake off last week's disappointing loss in Columbus and keep their point streak intact on Tuesday night when they host the Blue Jackets at Wells Fargo Center.
The Flyers are 6-0-3 over their last nine games as they attempt to crawl back into the playoff picture. They are on their longest point streak since March 8-26, 2011, though probably feel they should have another win on this run following a late collapse versus the Blue Jackets last Friday.
Philadelphia led 3-1 in the third period at Columbus, but the Blue Jackets battled back to tie the game and force overtime, where they won it on Artem Anisimov's tally.
Ray Emery made 29 saves in defeat, while Curtis McElhinney posted 22 saves for the Blue Jackets as they beat the Flyers for the sixth time in the past seven meetings.
Columbus is just 2-6-0 with a tie all-time in Philadelphia.
The Flyers were able to bounce back on Sunday versus the Buffalo Sabres, getting a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Michael Raffl and Matt Read. Raffl scored in his return to the lineup after sitting out seven games in a row due to pneumonia.
Emery made 21 saves for the Flyers, who are six points behind the Boston Bruins for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
"We took it to them in the first," Emery said. "I think we are keeping it simple and sticking to our system."
Philadelphia will play its next four at home after going 2-0-2 on a road trip and Emery figures to start tonight. He is 3-2-2 versus the Blue Jackets with a 3.39 goals against average and .882 save percentage in eight meetings (7 starts).
The Blue Jackets are seven points behind the Flyers in the standings and had won three of four prior to Saturday's 6-3 setback to the New York Islanders. Finishing up a set of back-to-back games, Columbus got goals from Brandon Dubinsky, Cam Atkinson and Nick Foligno.
Anton Forsberg gave McElhinney a breather and was peppered with 46 shots, coming up with 40 saves. The Islanders scored three times on him in the third frame.
"I don't think the third period was different than the first two other than our goaltender made some great saves in the first and second," said Columbus coach Todd Richards.
Columbus opened up a five-game road trip with its fourth loss in five games as the guest.
McElhinney is 4-1-0 in his career versus the Flyers with a 3.19 GAA and .905 save percentage in five starts.
