Gainesville, FL – Florida starting quarterback Jeff Driskel underwent an emergency appendectomy on Tuesday.
"Jeff had acute appendicitis and fortunately the medical staff caught it very quickly," said Gators head coach Will Muschamp. "His surgery went well and how long he is out will be determined by how his body responds, which could be two weeks."
Florida opens its 2013 schedule at home against Toledo on Aug. 31.
Driskel completed his sophomore season by leading Florida to a 10-2 record in 2012, passing for 1,646 yards with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions while also rushing for 408 yards and four scores.
