CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - The Calgary Flames have hired Craig Hartsburg as an associate coach.

Hartsburg coached for 14 years in the NHL, including head jobs with Chicago, Anaheim and Ottawa.

Hartsburg spent the last two seasons with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. He compiled a 74-54-16 record with Everett and was nominated for the WHL's coach of the year award in 2010.

Hartsburg played in the 1981 Stanley Cup final with the Minnesota North Stars. He was a three-time All-Star in his 10 seasons in the NHL as a defenseman.
