Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames activated forward Mikael Backlund from injured reserve on Saturday.
Backlund had been out of the lineup since Feb. 7, when he suffered a Grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in one of his knees. The 23-year-old Swede totaled three goals and one assist in eight games before his setback.
To make room on the roster, the Flames assigned forward Sven Baertschi to Abbotsford of the American Hockey League. Baertschi picked up just one assist in 10 appearances with Calgary this year.
