Bridgeview, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Fire announced Tuesday that the club has signed striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Florent is a quality player with experience playing in some of the top leagues in Europe," said Fire head coach Frank Yallop. "Since he's been training with us for the past few weeks, we've been able to see first-hand the attributes he has. I'm pleased that we were able to add him to the squad as we enter the final stretch of the regular season."
A journeyman, Sinama-Pongolle most recently represented Russian Premier League side FC Rostov, where he scored two goals in 18 matches from 2012-14.
Prior to his time in Russia, the 30-year-old enjoyed stints with Le Havre, Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Atletico Madrid, Sporting Lisbon, Real Zaragoza and St. Etienne.
Sinama-Pongolle will occupy an international roster spot and be added to the Fire roster upon receipt of his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
