MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The suspension of 10 Minnesota players stemmed from the same incident after the Gophers' season-opening victory that led to suspensions of four of those players earlier this season.
That's according to the father of one of the players and an attorney for several.
Ray Buford Sr., father of suspended player Ray Buford Jr., says the new suspensions result from a university investigation that was separate from earlier investigations into an alleged sexual assault at an apartment near campus Sept. 3.
Lee Hutton, an attorney for several of the players, also tells the Star Tribune the new suspensions stemmed from the same incident. They plan to appeal.
It's unknown whether the players will be available when Minnesota plays Washington State in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 27.
