Barcelona, Spain – In a move that has been a few years in the making, Cesc Fabregas secured a return to Barcelona from Arsenal on Monday in a deal that could reach $57 million.
The 24-year-old joined the Gunners when he was 16 and went on to make 303 appearances for Arsene Wenger's side, scoring 57 goals.
"I waited many days, months and years for this moment," Fabregas said. "It is a very special day. I return home after eight years. I know I disappointed many of you when I left, but I'm back for the challenge of my life. I hope to leave good memories."
Fabregas returns to Barca on a five-year contract with his transfer set to pay Arsenal an initial $42 million, while another $15 million could head to London depending on certain clauses being met.
