Arsenal and Newcastle United have been fined $49,500 by the Football Association for failing to control their players in an incident during their recent English Premier League fixture on Aug. 13.

During the match, players from both clubs were involved in a skirmish that saw Arsenal striker Gervinho sent of for slapping Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton in the face.

Both clubs denied the charges and appealed the ruling, but the FA upheld its decision to impose the fines.
