Opened in September 2011, Wroclaw Municipal Stadium was built for Euro 2012. Designed to resemble a Chinese lantern, the stadium was erected by the Sleza River and linked to the heart of the city by a new tram line.
The stadium hosted its first event with a world heavyweight title fight between Vitali Klitschko and Polish boxer Tomasz Adamek, but did not "officially" open until one week later for a George Michael concert.
Polish club Slask, which has a museum in the stadium, played the first soccer match in front of a sell-out crowd in October 2011. Italy downed Poland, 2-0, in the first international contest in November of last year.
The stadium will host four Euro 2012 Group A matches, including one featuring co-host Poland. The Czech Republic will play all three of its group matches at the stadium, while Russia and Greece each play once at the venue.
